Koh Rong Island 4, Cambodia, May 27th, 2013

White sand beaches, clear shallow waters for safe swimming - its all very nice but the reality is depicted below where contaminated water from the back beaches seeps into the clear blue sea. Hiking away from the village along the white sandy shoreline is actually quite idyllic for the most part, but when that faint whiff of odour begins to stick in the back of the throat then hikers are not too far from having to step over a channel of orange water - looks suspiciously like wee! Garbage litters the back beach line including drug paraphernalia and beer bottles, not that surprising actually. So, there are some nice spots around, especially away from the village but personally, I would have to think twice about taking a dip here.
