A Walk in the Park Bangkok June 4th 2012

Nature in the city...

Bus number 3 up to Mor Chit with the intention of visiting the butterfly compound in the hope that this time the place lives upto its website claims of over 500 butterflies at any one time! Quite an exaggeration since when I visited in March there were less than 50 over 12 species. Anyway, its irrelevant now since the place was closed - public holiday! So, a walk around this rather large park to see what nature could throw my way - plenty as it happens. Its the park next to the Northern bus terminal at Jatuchak, and just across the road from chatuchak park. Half manicured with the other half left wild. Ponds, lakes, swamps and woodlands all providing an eclectic mix of nature confined by urban development. A circumnavigation of the park takes around 3 hours at a slow pace, keeping a watchful eye out.

Here's what I managed to spot whilst walking around this park on the Northern fringes of the city.
