Melaka to Auckland, via Singapore, Dubai, and Melbourne March 6th 2013

Melaka to Auckland via Singapore, Dubai and Melbourne.

Its a roundabout way of getting to Auckland, but it's the most cost effective ticket I could find, quite acceptable for anyone without time constraints. The option to fly a more direct, shorter route was infact around £200 more expensive with the likes of Singapore and Malaysian Airlines. The Aussie carriers were just as bad, including the pacific low cost carrier, Jetstar - they wanted £35 from passengers who wanted to be fed on the 10 hours to Auckland! Emirates Airlines it is then, of course they are happy to feed and water their passengers as appropriate, earning awards and accolades a plenty.

First I have to get to Changi Airport, that's the International airport of Singapore, an island on the very Southern tip of the Malay Peninsula. The choices - 6 hours by bus for about 8 quid, 6 hours train for about 10 quid or 40 minutes Air Asia from KL for 24 quid. Air Asia it is then...

The flight isn't until 8pm so plenty of time to kill, let's kill it in the Big KL city. well, actually I want to visit the Air Force museum at a small airport near the city, Simpang, and ready to be knocked down in favour of housing according to Internet reports. I have a bus number, I know where to get the bus so it should be straight forward - there and back in a couple of hours, hopefully.

£2 and 1 hour 45 munites , Melaka to Kuala Lumpur's Southern Bus Terminal known as TBS. Then TBS to Pasar Seni, a station I know pretty well from last years trip. It was messy then, lots of buildings going up, coming down and temporary structures for bus passengers. well, a small bus station has been built now, but only just, the electronic scoreboards haven't been connected yet. Actually it's turning out to be quite a nightmare, looking for this bus to Simpang as there appears to be little organisation, even the staff seem somewhat disorganised!
