Melaka is undoubtedly on the tourist trail along with Penang. Unlike Penang though, this town and surrounds can be explored within a couple of days. The car is definitely king around here with public transport woefully inadequate despite plenty of willing customers! Street food is hard to find, sometimes impossible until the weekend night markets arrive, then its around in abundance, cheap too. Generally, prices are good, average for the Chinese cuisines but good for the Malay and Islamic kitchens. Accommodation is priced similar to Penang, perhaps just a little pricier. But the place doesn't come close to beating Penang on food, accommodation and attractions - 6/10 if I had to rate my stay here.
