A mix up in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands
Directions to Daniels Lodge are sketchy initially, but soon a consensus of opinion lead me up a side street, dark but for a few porch lights and right at the end, as promised is the guesthouse. "Full up", muttered the man at reception. An exchange of emails a few days ago made the reservation for tonight and produced the evidence, thankfully still displayed on the IPad. Well, turns out I got the day right, but the date wrong. Monday 19th was actually a Tuesday, a mistake they didn't spot, so off to pound the streets a hopefully a bed for the night. The Pines might have a room indicates the man at reception. Back down to the main street and it's on the road directly opposite.
A combination of being late and still the Chinese New Year means most accommodation will be taken by now, but I can sleep on the sofa at Daniels Lodge for 10 rupees if all else fails. £12.50, a room at The Twin Pines is available, and not unreasonable considering the situation - so Twin Pines it is.
